Current Role
Steve Kaufman brings more than 17 years of operating experience to Riverside, which he joined in 2005 as an Operating Partner. He currently serves as the CEO for Alteris Renewables.
Prior Experience
Previously, Steve was President and CEO, and earlier COO, of Avici Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:AVCI), a telecommunications equipment company. Prior to Avici, he worked at Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU)), most recently serving as President of the Multiservice Core Networks division, a $2 billion business. He was also Vice President and General Manager of Lucent's core switching business (formerly Cascade Communications) and General Manager in Lucent's microelectronics group (now LSI Corporation (NYSE:LSI)). Additionally, Steve worked for Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) in various marketing management roles on the Pentium processor product family.
Education
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Brown University, a Master of Business Administration degree, with distinction, from Harvard Business School, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Personal
Steve serves on the boards of the Massachusetts High Technology Council, the Massachusetts Network Communications Council, and One Laptop per Child.
